Mary Queen of Peace (MQP) Elementary School in St. John’s, NL could write the book on how to rock a Shave for the Brave! The energy, excitement, and community involvement during an MQP Shave is off-the-charts, year after year. This year was no exception, as MQP hosted their 2019 Shave for the Brave on Thursday, April 4. The entire gymnasium was packed with people cheering, laughing, and shedding happy tears while the kids sang along with the upbeat playlist and danced enthusiastically along with Razor, the lion.
Malik Snook, one of our Shave Ambassadors for 2019, is a grade five student at MQP. He shaved this year for the fifth time and was joined by his loving grandmother, as family and friends clapped and cheered.
Malik’s little brother, Solomon, is in grade three at MQP and after hearing a presentation at his school about the amazing work YACC is doing to support cancer survivors, he told his family that he was, “inspired”, and asked to sign up for the Shave. A few days later, he joined his brother and grandmother to face the razors, making the commitment to Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) a family affair!
We are always blown away by the incredible commitment that MQP has to the Shave for the Brave and Young Adult Cancer Canada. Way to go, Mary Queen of Peace Elementary!
