The Northeast Eagles Shave gets personal

 Back to Recent News

The Northeast Eagles Minor Hockey Association was back for its fifth Shave for the Brave on March 17, 2018 — complete with annual Shave for the Brave cupcakes and balloon bouquets! Head Hunter, YACCer, Localife leader, cancer survivor, and hockey mom Kelly Knee was dressed for the occasion with her Shave for the Brave attire and a St. Patrick’s Day hat.

There were ten Shavers in all, including Kelly’s boys, and two brand new Shavers, Luke and Faye. Faye’s three daughters and her mother-in-law participated last year at the St. John’s Community Shave in honour of Faye’s dad. Faye was so inspired by them and her friend, Kelly’s, story that she wanted to do her own, donating her thick black braids and Shaving bald. Her mother-in-law decided to join in for her second Shave.

This year’s Shave raised the most ever at $2,970 bringing the Eagles’ five-year total to $8,868 and 41 Shavers.

Special thanks to Head Hunter Kelly Knee and her hair stylist (and sister) Heather Rowe.
