When Chris Tucker from Pennecon first read 13-year-old Christian Legge’s story, he knew he wanted to help this young man reach his goal of raising $35,000 with his Shave for the Brave this year. Tucker immediately got to work. He formed a committee which included D.F Barnes, M&M Offshore, and The Bigs (who also volunteered the space for the evening). Together they planned an incredible night which included live music, a silent auction, ticket draws, and lots of food!

Tucker’s silent auction had a tech theme, but included everything from a private, gourmet meal for six, to framed Pepsi cans featuring Newfoundland’s NHL players!

The musical entertainment was just as fun as the bidding wars! The volunteer performers, who are all talented professional entertainers, had the crowd singing along to everything from Oasis’s “Wonderwall,” to Spirit of the West’s “Home for a Rest.” Big thank you to Damian Follett, Rob Cook, and The Black Sheep for the incredible show!

Tucker never forgot his inspiration for the event, and when he heard that Legge’s bike was stolen last year while fundraising, he jumped at the opportunity to help the awesome kid. He had a BMX bike custom-made by Turndown BMX Inc. and surprised Christian with the new wheels at the end of the evening.

The auction and tickets came to an end at 9 p.m. The Pennecon accounting team was put to work and tallied over $10,000 raised in just three hours! Legge proudly accepted the giant cheque, which was donated by Speedpro. They are not ready to stop there; Tucker is still accepting donations or you can donate directly to Legge through his online fundraising page.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this incredible evening; it’s one we’ll remember for a long time!
